Pre-Made Characters in The Sims Series
Overall Summary for The Sims
Sims 2 takes place approximately 25 years after The Sims, making the story and plotline much different.
Old Town
Old Town is the former name for Pleasantview , as the game takes place 25 years before The Sims 2. The town's founder Gunther Goth founded the town while seeking a better life for his wife Cornelia and son Mortimer.
At the time of the town was founded roughly 30 years before The Sims and 55 years before The Sims 2. Gunther was a hard working Farmer and lived a Blue Collared working life style. Until he found a forest of un-owned land just waiting to be settled.
Thus Pleasantview, formerly known as Old Town was established. Mortimer who was just a child at the time, but would receive various demons in his life that would change his character from young farm boy to a very greedy and dark old man.
As the years went by, the population grew.
When the player first begins the game, they are convinced by the game to go to the Newbie household. The house consists of Bob and Betty. Newbie, their last name, is a take on the word "newbie" as these characters are the tutorial family for newbie players.
Bob is a Tutorial character who has many similarities to Homer Simpson. Bob is a lazy slob who lets his wife Betty get him out of trouble or take care of the house. Betty is considered the helpful house wife from 1950s suburbia, but is similar to Marge Simpson. The Newbie home also has a 1950s suburbia theme making it a custom rendered tutorial. 25 years later, their daughter, Brandi (not included with the two) grows up to have a criminal teen son, a toddler and she is expecting another. Furthermore, her husband is deceased.
The second family and most memorable is the Goths. Bella and Mortimer Goth are a friendly, family, but at the same time, have dark, spooky lifestyles, as they are both strongly connected to the supernatural. Bella, a psychic who comes from a family of witches in Magic Town (from The Sims: Makin' Magic), has a strong interest in Art, Gardening, and obviously, Magic. She is also more friendly than her arrogant husband. Mortimer, a Lab Assistant who in the next 25 years will climb his way up the career ladder to become a Mad Scientist, is sometimes rude and snobbish to other sims, but loves his family.
Cassandra is shy and doesn't say much and is said to be around 10 years old. Not much is known about Cassandra until she has her own story to explain in The Sims 2.
Micheal Bachelor is similar to the character in The Graduate. He doesn't know what he wants to do after he recently graduated from college. Though the two Roomies Melissa and Chris have crushes on him and the two fight over him to see who Micheal likes more.
The Pleasant family have an easygoing lifestyle and are the nicest family in the town. Living normal lives and hoping that the rest of the town takes the families advice, their last name tells it all. Their eldest son Daniel is the father of the new generation of Pleasants in The Sims 2.
The Burbs who live a 1950s lifestyle have a son named Johnny who represents the All-American boy of the 1950s. His parents are completely different. His father Brad loves nature and everything about it, while his wife Tiffany is a Fashion Designer and is still skeptical as to why her husband moved them out of the city and into Old Town. Despite their differences, Brad and Tiffany still love each other, While Johnny loves his dog Tucker.
Gina Kat, who has an obsession with her Cats, writes children's books about them, as they are her main influence. However, her obsession has gotten many of her neighbors scared of her and her strange obsession.
The Hicks are a Hillbilly family who live in a trailer on the borderline of Old Town. The family owns a group of wild mutts who watch over the house. Elden, who is a Master Mechanic, watches over his mom, Mama, named for Hillbilly slang.
The Sims
Newbie
- Bob Newbie (Male, Gemini)
"Bob is new to the neighborhood. He needs help getting familiar with his new environment. Can you help him get through this tutorial?" He is the favorite patsy of The Sims Universe.
- Betty Newbie (Female, Pisces)
"Betty is new to the neighborhood. She is just getting familiar with her new environment. Can you help her learn to interact with her new home?" In The Sims for consoles, the much younger Betty Newbie is known as Betty Roomie in the story mode.
Bachelor
- Michael Bachelor (Male, Libra)
"Michael is just out of college and he doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. Can you help Michael succeed?" The Sims 2 places him as Bella Goth's brother and Dina Caliente's (now deceased) husband.
Goth
- Mortimer Goth (Male, Taurus)
"Cheerful and outgoing, Mortimer brings his old country upbringing into the modern age. He has an unusual fondness for insects." He starts as a Test Subject on the Scientist track.
- Bella Goth (Female, Cancer)
"Elegant and athletic are two qualities that describe Bella. She enjoys a variety of activities from golf to miniature golf." She may be the most popular character in the game, as shown by reactions toward her disappearance in The Sims 2. (A character with the same name makes a cameo appearance in The Sims 2, but was abducted by aliens, therefore placed as a townie in Strangetown. Bella can be found in the family tree, but has no other form of ties with the Goth family, and is seen to have not aged or presumed dead). Promotional materials for The Sims on console say she's descended from a line of witches.
- Cassandra Goth (Female, Cancer)
"Cassandra is the quiet, mysterious type. Nobody ever knows quite what she's thinking."

Pleasant
- Jeff Pleasant (Male)
Husband of Diane and Father of Daniel and Jennifer. He works in Elite Forces in Military track and wants to be promoted to Astronaut so he can be the first man to walk on Mars. In The Sims 2, Daniel Pleasant's biography says that Jeff died before reaching his goal and now Daniel feels guilty.
- Diane Pleasant (Female)
Wife of Jeff and mother of Daniel and Jennifer. She is a full-time housewife.
- Daniel Pleasant (Male)
Son of Jeff and Diane, and brother of Jennifer.
- Jennifer Pleasant (Female)
Daughter of Jeff and Diane, and sister of Daniel.

Starts as a Mailroom Clerk in the Business track. Husband of Barbra and father of Bobby.

Is a stay-at-home mother of Bobby and husband of Edward.

Snooty Patooty
- Chip Snooty Patooty (Male)
Husband of Buffy.

Wife of Chip.
Both Chip and Buffy are unemployed Sims who brag about their wealth and how their lives are too busy (playing cards and going on cruises) to work.
Maximus
- MAHUIZZO "Jimmy" Maximus (Male)
Works as a Criminal Mastermind in the Life of Crime track; husband of Princess Zhaghawa. He once thought that women were of no use and could be manipulated however he wanted. He dropped this idea when he met his wife, Princess Zhaghawa.
- Princess Zhaghawa Maximus (Female)
Works as a Feature Star in the Entertainment track; wife of MAHUIZZO "Jimmy." It was said that she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and according to her name, she may be descended from royalty in an unknown African tribe (she may even be heir to the throne).
