Career
Susie Galvez is the founder of Face Works Day Spa in Richmond, Virginia. Face Works Day Spa is one of twelve fully accredited day spas in the United States. It has been featured in trade publications such as Dermascope, Les Nouvelle Esthetique, Salon Today, American Spa, Modern Salon, Skin, Inc., Nails, Nails Plus, and Day Spa magazine.
Galvez is the author of several books, including InSPAration (2002), a book designed to help salon and spa owners successfully grow their business; Hello Beautiful: 365 Ways to Be Even More Beautiful (2003), Weight Loss Wisdom: 365 Successful Dieting Tips (2004), and the four-part "Ooh La La" series, which includes Perfect Body, Perfect Makeup, Perfect Face, and Perfect Hair, the latter three co-written with Chico Hayasaki. Her most recent book is The Thrifty Girl's Guide to Glamour: Living the Beautiful Life on Little to No Money (2006).
Awards and memberships
Susie received the National Association of Women Business Owners award as "Member Of The Year for 2005." Galvez is a member of Cosmetic Executive Women, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the National Association of Female Executives, the Network of Enterprising Women and the American Pen Women.
